Van Bommel regrets Bayern´s ´lost year´ under Klinsmann

With his team set to face Werder Bremen in Saturday s German Cup final, Bayern Munich captain Mark van Bommel says his side suffered a lost year under ex-coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

Bayern have enjoyed a remarkable season under coach Louis van Gaal having already won the Bundesliga title and reached both this weekend s German Cup final and the Champions League final in Madrid next Saturday.

Van Gaal took over last July after Klinsmann was sacked by the German giants in April 2009 after only ten months in charge following a string of poor results.

Having signed Arjen Robben from Real Madrid last August, Bayern have dominated German football this season, but Van Bommel says Bayern s time under Klinsmann, who guided Germany to third at the last World Cup, was wasted.

Ten Hag backs Ronaldo to hit his stride after Man Utd star scores 700th club goal

Erik ten Hag is confident Cristiano Ronaldo will hit his stride after scoring his 700th club goal – and his first of the 2022-23 Premier League season – in Sunday s 2-1 win at Everton.

Ronaldo had endured a frustrating campaign prior to his outing at Goodison Park, a ground on which he had never previously scored a Premier League goal, but he proved decisive after entering the fray in the first half.

Antony cancelled out Alex Iwobi s opener before Ronaldo replaced the injured Anthony Martial, and the 37-year-old quickly made his mark by firing a left-footed finish beyond Jordan Pickford.

That strike was Ronaldo s 700th in club football and his 144th across two spells at Old Trafford, and ensured United bounced back from last week s derby thrashing by Manches…

I asked Charlie to take my place behind the wheel. As he s American I felt he didn t risk anything, Faty told the newspaper from Dakar.

Today it s my duty to face up to my actions. Charlie was unfairly accused. A year after…

Prediction: Barcelona vs Juventus

Verdict: Both teams to score

Best Odds:

Bookmaker:

Once again Barcelona find themselves with a large deficit after the first leg, but they were in even more difficult situation against PSG and still managed to go through. Juventus did make a giant step towards the semi-finals with a 3-0 win in Turin, but they are well aware the job needs to be finished at Camp Nou.

Barcelona

This is proving to be one of the most disappointing seasons in recent years for the Catalans, who just cannot seem to find any sort of consistency. The La Liga trophy is slowly slipping out of grasp and their Champions League campaign could be over within 48 hours as well. Barcelona did produce a remarkable comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in the Last 16 stage, winning the second …
